Our Cottage Garden Shed and Standard Star Cabin are non-treated. The wood is kiln dried pine timber and needs to be protected with primer, paint or a clear sealant for weather protection.
It is advisable to put on a dry surface but if it’s going in a wet moldy area it would be advisable to put building paper over top of the treated bearers between the floor board joists. Bitumen building paper can be purchased from most building hardware stores, this is not supplied with the kitset.
Our Pressure Treated Star Cabin and cabins over 10m2 have been treated. This impregnates the wood with a treatment that helps protect against rot, mold, moisture and termites. You can paint over the treatment or leave it in its natural wooden state.
The treatment is an H3 treatment. Read more about our non-toxic pressure treatment here.
No, we do not provide power or plumbing. This can of course be done, You would need to contact a local registered electrician or plumber, they will be able to give you the right advise and a quote.
All our cabins are delivered in their natural wooden state. Meaning you can choose any colour you wish! If you purchase a non-treated cabin, you must paint or stain it to protect the timber (in a colour of your choice) with a recommended product from your local paint store, ensuring you follow manufacturer’s instructions.
Our pressure treated Star Cabin or cabins over 10m2 can be either painted, or left in its natural wooden state.
